His Love Endures Forever copyright by Bruce LaughtonI shot this picture in North Dakota in 1999. The abandoned farm house out in the middle of nowhere caught my attention. As I got closer to it, I spotted the intricate work the builder put into the windows. Folks have told me the scroll work is likely from a builder with Norwegian roots. What struck me was the amount of work that went into the window – gabled, hand cut scroll work, the case work on the right side has a rosette at the top and horizontal beads which were probably painted in bright colors at some point. The nails on the clapboard were in a perfect line. This house was someone’s pride and joy and they demonstrated that in the construction. As I printed the image in my darkroom, the verse from Matthew 6:20 came to mind which led to the title of the picture. A treasured house in disrepair vs His love endures forever.
